Lead zinc ore divides into sulfide lead zinc ore and oxide lead zinc ore . Flotation is the most widely used in separating sulfide lead zinc ore , to separate zinc and plumbum , sometimes for separating sulfide iron and other minerals . Sulfide lead ore process divides into priority flotation process , mix-separating flotation , asynchronous flotation ,and so on . In actually, the priority flotation process is most widely used.

Crushing Section


The flowsheet uses a three- stage closed circuit crushing section with a capacity of 500-2000 tons per 10 hours to reduce the ore to minus 12 mm for feed to the ball mill. The size of crushing equipment will depend on the size of ore and tonnage of material delivered to the crusher.

Grinding system


The crushed ore minus 12mm is fed by means of disc feeder from fine ore bin to a Ball Mill which operates in closed circuit with a hydrocyclone to produce a minus 200 mesh75% classifier overflow product.

Flotation system


The hydrocyclone overflow passes to a Conditioning tank where sodium sulphide is added to sulphidize the oxidized lead minerals. The sulphidized lead minerals are subjected to flotation using xanthates or mercaptans and pine oil to produce a flotation concentrate which is cleaned two times to produce a high grade marketable lead concentrate.

The flotation tailing from the lead section passes to a lifting conditioning tank represent the feed to the zinc flotation section. The combined products flow to a zinc conditioning tank where soda ash, sodium silicate and an organic colloid are added to disperse the pulp and complex the slimes which might interfere with flotation. The additional reagents required for the zinc flotation consist of sodium sulphide, primary amines and a frother which are added to the conditioner discharge in the order stated and prior to entering the flotation machines. The rougher zinc concentrate is cleaned two times to produce a high grade zinc concentrate.

The lead and zinc flotation was conducted in XCF/KYF Flotation Machines which provides for the maximum grade of concentrates and the maximum flexibility for the continuous retreatment of the cleaner middlings.

Dewatering system


The final lead and zinc concentrates are pumped by froth pumps to Thickeners for dewatering prior filtration. The thickener underflow at approximately 50% solids is pumped to a vacuum Filter by means of a Diaphragm pump. The filter conc pass to concentrate bins for storage. The tailing is pumped to tailings pond after dewatering by tailings thickener.

The lead zinc ore procesing mainly deals with lead zinc sulfide and oxide ores with close intergrowth, uneasy dissociation and uneven particle size distribution. 

      Preferred flotation

 After the ore grinding to the monomer dissociation of lead-zinc, lead and zinc will be separated respectively. It is suitable for coarse grinding fineness adopting single grinding classification process, different concentrates are separated by flotation reagents combination.

      Mixed flotation

After grinding the raw ore, mixed flotation will separate the zinc and lead together and then re separate zinc concentrate from lead concentrate. It is suitable for strong associated lead-zinc ore, when necessary to regrind concentrate thus better separation of lead and zinc concentrate will be made.
