Magnetic separation workshop arrangement

This article describes the scientific method of equipment configuration for the magnetic separation beneficiation plant.In a magnetic separation beneficiation plant,the magnetic separators are usually placed in a same workshop with ball mill.

Magnetic separation is divided into dry magnetic separation and wet magnetic separation, and wet magnetic separation can be divided into weak magnetic separation and strong magnetic separation. For a single magnetic minerals using weak magnetic separation for mixed iron minerals; For combination iron ores, It can use the strong magnetic first and then weak magnetic.

The wet magnetic separator is more flexible in the plant layout. Mainly according to the direction of slurry flow, it is based on the principle that the slurry can flow independently, the equipment is arranged neatly, the operation and maintenance is convenient, and the hight difference is saved.

Due to the large processing capacity of ball mill, the same separating operation needs more than one same type magnetic separation equipment. We should ensure that the slurry is evenly distributed. When we configure, we should take full account of the difference between the height and the loss of the slurry distributor and the self flow gradient.

As a typical magnetic beneficiation plant as shown in Figure 1, for the two stage ball mill double horizontal configuration, magnetic separation equipment is a multi-layer configuration in the magnetic cross, the lowest pump and pool pump on the ground. The first step spiral classifier’s overflow is elevated to the second hydrocyclone by slurry pumps, hydrocyclone’s underflow flow into the second ball mill, hydrocyclone’s overflow gravity to the magnetic separation operation. A grinding series corresponds to 4 magnetic dehydrating tanks, and the number of magnetic dehydrating tanks is 1 to 1 for the drum magnetic separators.

The weak magnetic separation, when the gentle slope terrain (less than 10%), often using multilayer layout; when the steep terrain is often used for staggered ladder layout. When the magnetic equipment is used, the coarse separationequipment should be adopted before the magnetic separator. When the number of the series of magnetic separators is more, the uniform ore separating equipment should be arranged. As shown in Figure 2-a, 2-b is a configuration diagram of magnetic separation beneficiation plant, and all the grinding equipments are concentrated in the same inter span configuration.
